- Nancy first middle initial may be I instead of J; same with herhusband Thomas I or Thomas J. The Js and Is are hard to distinguishon this page. Ancestry.com transcribes the head of this household asThomas J Green, but one of the sons as Thomas I.
In 1870, the son is clearly Thomas J, but the father does not have aninitial. Genealogies which report this family have all theseindividuals with J as the middle initial. Only the 1860 census hasNancy's second middle initial of R. This may be an error too.
I found an Easley family living next door to her and Thomas in the1850 census. From the ages, it appears the Easley next door to Nancyis her brother. I have not tried to reconstruct this Easley family,which are somewhat distant from the lineages my genealogy isfollowing.
Some genealogies have Nancy's death information as 2 Nov 1879 Sabine,Texas, but no source documentation is provided. I have troubleaccepting this as correct, because of the widow's pension informationfor S J McQuary, wife of Thomas James Green, which seems to be theright Thomas Green.
The application, supported by an affidavit of two witnesses, reportsthat S J and Thomas were married on 126 February 1871. If this is thecorrect wife of Thomas at the time of his death, as severalgenealogies do affirm, it would mean that Nancy Easley died before1871, or perhaps they were divorced.
