Notes

  • I was uncertain about the spelling, remembering this older cousin frommy early childhood, but never have seen the name written down.  Ithought of the name as O'Neill.  I found the correct (at leastofficially recorded) spelling first in the Social Security DeathIndex.  However, the name is spelled in other records as O'neil.  Hisfather's name appears as Neill or Neil.

[Broderbund Family Archive #110, Vol. 2 M-Z, Ed. 6, Social SecurityDeath Index: U.S., Date of Import: 1 Feb 2007, Internal Ref.#1.112.6.126710.121]

    Individual: Yates, Oneal
    Social Security #: 443-28-4088
    Issued in: Oklahoma

    Birth date: 10 Jul 1928
    Death date: 01/23/1997

ZIP Code of last known residence: 74525, Atoka, Oklahoma

But this birth date cannot be right.  O'Neil is enumerated in the 1920census, as 2 years old.  He was born in 1918 or so, not 1928.  In the1930 census he is 13.  So it appears his birthday is before April1918.
