Notes

  • Some genealogies have Evaline's name as Susan Evaline.  I have notfound any record or docuemntation or statement of family source forthe name Susan.  The first record I have of Evaline Barnett is the1850 census.

Evaline's age in the 1850 and 1880 censuses are consistent, making herborn in 1838.  But her birthday from family sources is 20 November1835. The 1895 Kansas State Census matches her actual birthday.

The child Lula is reported under this name in genealogies as well asrecords.  One Barnett researcher with whom I have worked on thisfamily, reports her name as Lola.  I note that her brother Frank(Francis) had a daughter who was reported in the census as Lolo, possibly meant to be Lola.  In 1900 Lula is still in the household, but has recently married David Lundry.

Thanks to Barnett Researcher Nadene Snyder, who worked with me on muchof this Barnett line, and who had found many public records on theBarnett lineage.  Note that in these later censuses her name isspelled Eveline.  This was also the spelling on her marriageregistration.  Incidentally, Nadene lists Evaline as Susan Evaline.  Ihave not found any record documenting the first name of Susan.  It maybe a name known only in family sources.  I have not learned if thename appears this way in a family Bible or other family document.  Noone who has Susan Evaline as her name documents where they got thatname or discusses the name.  Thus I have insufficient evidence forincluding Susan in the name for Evaline.

In 1920 Evaline is living with her widowed daughter Lula Belle

I am puzzled by the name of her father reported here, Frank Barnett. Her father was Jorile/Jorial Barnett.  I am thinking this is an errorby the coroner.  The informant's husband was named Frank, a possiblesource of the confusion of names.

Two versions of her obituary were published by two differentpublications.
