Notes
- George Jerome Jackson is normally reported in public records simply asGeorge. From George's birth date we can determine that his mother isElizabeth Jane Tate, who died in 1908.
I have not been able to find any Texas Marriage record for his firstmarriage to Addie Katherine Miller. They married about 1923, based onthe 1930 census report that they married when Addie was 14. Theirfirst child, Jewel C, was born in 1925. In 1969, he married widowMollie Morgan Green. The record of this marriage is online.
I had some difficulty finding the records of George's birth and death. Before finding the public record, I knew he had died before 1981. Inthe obituary of his half-brother Jimmie Lee Jackson in 1981, George isnot mentioned as a survivor.
A cousin and research partner, Wanda Cox, located the 1910 census forJames Toliver Jackson and his family. For some reason it had beenhiding from me. In that census George is 7. So he was born in about1902. This census does not tell us the state in which George wasborn, reporting his birth place only as US, and both his parentslikewise. The 1920 census, when he was reported as 15 years old, reports he was born in Texas. Note that they are living in ParkerCounty in both these censuses. But his obituary says he was born inOklahoma. Family researchers had thought he was born in Weatherford.

On 17 April 2010, I received some family information from JamesJackson, son of George Jerome Jackson, through his cousin MarionMixon. James sent us copies of several old handwritten family recordshe had collected. One of these was a list of birth dates. GeorgeJackson is reported as born 28 November 1902, confirming that the twoofficial records above are for our George Jerome Jackson..
In the 1920 census, George is reported as only 15 years old, when wewould expect him to be 16 in February of 1920, if born in November1902.

The Texas Death Index reports the exact date of death:
George Jackson, Death 4 Mar 1973, Parker County
There is another George Jackson in Parker County, whom I have notidentified.
George Jackson, Death 20 Jun 1983 Parker County
The Texas Birth and Death Indexes record that a child was born in1927. This appears to be our George and Addie, though her name isspelled Annie. This birth date matches later information about theirdaughter Idella, who is reported in the 1930 census as 3 years old.Interestingly, the next entry in the Index is the birth of an unnamedinfant daughter on 25 June 1927 to a G J Jackson and Lillian Smith, also of Parker County, Texas. I am not sure who this couple are.

Another child was born and apparently died in infancy. There is abirth record for a child to George and Addie in 1929, which does notappear to be accounted for in the 1930 census. The Texas birthrecords report the birth date of this unnamed infant as 7 July 1929.No child of less than one year old is recorded in their household inthe April 1930 census. I have not yet found a death record for amatching infant.

The records indicate that George and Addie moved a lot in the nextcouple of years. In April 1930, they are enumerated in the 1930census in Jones County, Texas. But in November that year they aredocumented in Hidalgo County, Texas, on the Mexican border in 1933.The Texas Death Index records that a child was born and died on thesame day, 5 Mar 1933, in the town of Donna.

In April 2010, I received through my cousin Marion Mixon details onGeorge Jerome Jackson's family from one of his sons, James Jackson.James reported the birth date for another daughter named Joan, forwhom I previously lacked a birth date. James says she was born on 5March 1933, the same as that given in the Texas Birth Index for JoyAnn. They would be twins, then, it appears.
Here is James' statement about the family. I have decided to followJames' spelling of his brothers' and sisters' names. Note that heindicates most of the children died at birth. This is probably whathappened to Joy, but I have not found a matching death record, as Ihave for several others.

=================================
I have not found a birth record for Joan Ruby, and James does notreport a sister by the name of Joy Ann. There are other birth recordsunaccounted for in James' list. Further investigation confirmedJoan's birth as the same as Joy, and I have concluded they were twins. I have found no further information about Joy. I learned in June2010 that this is the date on Joan Ruby's gravestone in Denton County. See Notes for George's daughters Joan Ruby and Joy Ann.
George and Addie are back down south for some period later. Noticethat James Edward was born in Donna, on the Mexican border. There isa birth record of another daughter born in 1943 in Hidalgo County, where they lived in the early 1930s. I have not found any informationto further enlightens us on the identity of this unnamed child.

Date of Birth: 31 Oct 1944 Hidalgo County

With this information I have accounted for 10 of the 13 children JamesEdward Jackson says his mode had. James says most were born dead. Itis possible some of the stillbirths were not recorded as births in theTexas Birth Index.
My cousin and coresearcher Marion Mixon found George's obituary in theWeatherford library in March 2010. This obituary, published in theWeatherford Democrat, reports on his death and informs of his burialdetails.
